Founder and Initiator of the “Mark ‘D’ Ball Basketball, Igoche Mark said the championship which will feature male and female teams will commence in January.
He made this disclosure while unveiling the league at the Treasures’ Suite Hotel yesterday night.
Igoche disclosed that the female tournament will commence on the 8th of January, 2022 and it will last for eight (8) days with 12 teams participating and it will take place at the Indoor Hall of the MKO Abiola Stadium, Package B.
He further stated that the male category will commence on the 22nd of January, 2022 and it will last for three (3) months and it will also feature 12 teams like its female counterparts. The tournament will also take place at the Indoor Hall of the MKO Abiola Stadium, Package B.
Recall that the tournament has been running for over 10 years in Benue state. The organizer said it is being moved to Abuja for the first time because they are expanding and clarified that it is not because of the forthcoming election.
He further disclosed that he is doing it alongside others because of the love they have for the game. “We are all here today because we love this game, a game in which we are passionate about and a place where we spend most of our lives…
“Mark D Ball brand and her affiliations are not new to the basketball family. Therefore, in continuation of our contribution to the sustainable development of basketball and in trying to see that the game is put back on the map, I present to you the Mark D Ball Basketball Championship…,” he concluded.
