Kano Pillars, NSCDC emerge Champions of 2021 Nigeria Volleyball Premier League

It was a glamorous night with mammoth crowd at the final of the Nigeria Volleyball Premier League as Kano Pillars lifted the trophy at the Indoor Hall of the Package B of the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja.

Kano Pillars emerged champions in the men’s category while Nigeria Security Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) won the women’s category respectively.

The NSCDC ladies retained their title after they defeated Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) by 16-2, 25-19, 23-25,22-25 while the male team of Kano Pillars defeated Civil Defence in the final battle 3-0 (32-30, 25-20, 22-25,).

Speaking after the victory, the Coach of Kano Pillars, Musa Baba Musa expressed satisfaction with the performance of his team.

He disclosed that they were able to defeat every team that came their way to emerge champions because of the support they enjoyed from the state government.

His words, “I want to thank state governor, Alhaji Ganduje and the Executive Chairman of the Kano State Sports Commission, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima. He has always been on ground for us, infact he is the brain behind this victory today. He was on ground to encourage the boys to give their best.

“I want to also say that the easiest game I played in this tournament is this final match against Civil defense and it has always been easy for us to beat Civil Defense, this is not the first time,” he said.

While speaking with journalists after the final, President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Engineer Musa Nimrod said he is happy to spend his money on volleyball.

He claimed that he doesn’t see it as waste because he is giving back to society especially to the youths. “This is my own Corporate Social Responsibility. Nobody should pity me, or see it as waste. I am only giving back to the society.”

He however concluded by revealing that the Volleyball Super Four will take place in Lagos next year.
