The founder of HotCoal Basketball Club, Mr. Ubong Udoh said HotCoal Basketball Club is his own way of giving back to the society.
He made this disclosure at the ‘Mark D Ball’ Basketball Championship at the Package B of the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja.
According to Udoh, “But more important thing is, HotCoal Basketball is the way I can give back, that is my Corporate Social Responsibility, CSR, it is my own way of giving back to the society. I think it is an opportunity to provide opportunity for the youths to get a better life.”
On the ongoing ‘Mark D Ball’ Basketball Championship, Mr. Udoh said the tournament is the highest level for the female game and their objective is to win it.
His words, “We are happy to participate and see where we need to improve and do other things. We intend to participate in the basketball league, and this championship is like a warm up game for us and we are preparing well. ”
On the performance of HotCoal club, Mr. Udoh said he is impressed with the performance of his girls so far. “Our team has been doing well because we have a good team. The coach is the directorate of basketball operations, we got an excellent team manager. I give credits to all the teams that support the club, they are doing an excellent job and them we have some sets of players that are committed and that is important to us.
“Of course there is room for improvement, we have strengthened the teams in some areas and we have seen the results of the scouting and recruitment we did,” Udoh opined.
He continued, “At the end of the tournament progresses, we are also going to see how we can strengthen the management too and how the players can be taken good care of and also ensure that all other things are provided for them.”
He however disclosed that they won nine trophies out of 11 tournaments they participated in last year hence they also want to start the year well.
He concluded by saying, “We have a sustainability framework that we have developed so that when I am not there, the club will enjoy continuous funding but more importantly is the passion. I also have a male team. Passion drives everything.”
