The coach of Nigeria Customs Service Basketball Team of the ongoing Mark D Ball Basketball Championship, Mr. Scott Nnaji said his girls are struggling because most of them have stop playing for a while.
He stated this yesterday after her girls qualified for the final to be played against First Bank Team on Saturday at the Package B of the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja.
The former National Coach of the Women Basketball team in Nigeria, D’ Tigress further said, “First, our target is to bring the girls back to life, some of them have stopped playing for a while and some of them are new players who have not played any top competition.
“So when you see some of the mistakes they are making, it shows that they have not been playing any serious competition, so that is why some of them are fumbling but in the next match, we should be able to get ourselves together,” he noted.

Mr. Nnaji however praised the organizer of the championship, Mr. Mark Igoche for his initiative. He said, “Well I think Mark D Ball is something to commend. For a while, we have not heard competition like this. He has been doing ‘Mark D Ball’ for over six to seven years in Otukpo, Benue State but it has always been a selected few but this time around, he opened it up to everybody and states to participate and that makes it more interesting.”
He however agreed that young talents are discovered easily for male basketball because they have many programmes but believe that such talents can only be discovered from competitions like Mark D Ball. “You won’t get all those young talents from camps but from competition like this.”
