It was celebration galore for Chelsea fans in Nigeria last night when West African country, Senegal emerged champions of the African Cup of Nations, AFCON after defeating the Pharaohs of Egypt in a penalty shoot-out.
Reports reaching us has it that many fans of Chelsea were on the streets of Lagos and Abuja jubilating while some drank themselves to stupor because of their goalkeeper, Edouard Mendy in the Senegalese team.
Mendy was one of the players that contributed to Senegal’s victory with his superb performance which earned him the Goalkeeper of the Tournament.
Meanwhile, it was mixed feeling for Liverpool fans, while some of them were celebrating, others were in sad mood because of the loss suffered by their second player, Mohammed Salah whose country, Egypt lost to Senegal by 4-2 in a penalty shoot-out.
Also, celebrating last night were the fans of Paris Saint Germaine, PSG; which have Gana and Gueye in their fold while fans of Crystal Palace also celebrated because of Kouyate.
Napoli fans were also not left behind as they were joyous over the weekend not only because they won their match on Saturday by 2-0 but also because one of their players, Coulibaly, who incidentally is the captain of the Teranga Lions of Senegal, won the AFCON trophy for the first time.
