The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi said the Corps’ Football Team will soon bounce back.
He gave this assurance after the Corps Walk and Jogging Exercise which was part of the programme to mark his one year in office.
Dr. Audi said even though football is not the only sport, they are putting things in place to ensure that their football team begin to do well like other sports while assuring also that the Corps will continue to win medals for the country at international stage.
It would be recalled that the NSCDC dominated athletics, volleyball, and other sports for a long time especially during the military and para-military games and the Corps had produced athletes like Olusoji Fasuba, Funke Oshonaike, just to mention a few.
Meanwhile, the CG as he is popularly called who was seen jogging with his wife and dancing with his staff also promised to give houses to staff today (Monday) and vehicles on tomorrow, Tuesday which is the exact date that he clocks one year in office.
The Walk and Jog exercise took place along the Airport Road. The exercise started from the NSCDC headquarters, went towards the Airport and Lugbe axis before terminating at the office with aerobic exercise before the CG addressed the staff.
While addressing the staff, the CG assured the staff that he is not going to tolerate discrimination amongst staff. He disclosed that his Deputy Commandant General and others working with him including his personal aides are all Christians while he is the only Moslem but yet he believes that they serve the same God.
The week will be climaxed with other sporting activities like handball, football, march parade, just to mention a few at the headquarters of the NSCDC.
