56 years ago, Sunday Akinlabi was born to the family of Dare, precisely May 29, 1966. Little do they know that the boy they gave birth to, who came empty and naked to this world, was not only going to be upright and responsible but also be a great man in future.
Today, he is the minister of Youth and Sports Development of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Before now, Dare, who is a well-trained professional journalist was the executive commissioner, stakeholder management, Nigerian Communication Commission, NCC.
The Minister who is known to be very humble, clocked 56 on Sunday and after he was celebrated by his lovely wife and children took to his verified tweeter handle to appreciate God.
He wrote thus: “Only God! Yes, it’s being only God that has kept me as I clock 56 years today. I have seen the Lord’s goodness, His Mercies and Compassion. Lord you have been so good to me. I bless your name. Not perfect-but striving. Many have been used by God to help my destiny. Thank U!”
It was very important to return all glory to God Almighty because He is the giver of life and if not for Him, the enemies would have consumed us. God has been the one raising a standard against the devil. Also, if we take records of those that were born alongside with Dare, many would have died while some must have missed it in life due to their way of life but here we are, Dare became a minister against all odds, it can only be God and deserves all the glory and honour.
Come to think of it, if there was no Dare, who knows maybe the MKO Abiola National Stadium Abuja and the National Stadium, Lagos would have been a thing of the past or permanent abode for criminals where they will carry out the nefarious activities to harm the great people of this country.
All attempts to put those stadia in place proved abortive but just an idea by a man changed the narrative. Today, we can boast of world class stadia in Abuja and Lagos, even though it has not been certified by the world football governing body, FIFA.
Anyway, this write-up is not about outlining the achievements of Mr. Sunday Akinlabi Dare which are numerous, it is all about wishing him well in life on his auspicious birth-day. May the Almighty God who has kept him till now and endowed him with wisdom, continue to keep and preserve him.
The God who never sleeps nor slumber will continue to keep watch over him as we look forward to celebrating his Diamond Jubilee birthday. This current ministerial appointment will not be the last, he will achieve all his heart desires in life.
Once again, happy wonderful birthday, Honourable Minister, omo Baba Dare!
