As the nation marks her 29th year of a rebirth into democracy, the Coordinator Satellite Towns Development Department, STDD, Comrade Obinna Francis Ogwuegbu congratulates Nigeria and Nigerians on her day of peaceful transition from military dictatorship to democracy in 1993.
The Coordinator who visited the Minister of State, FCT, Dr Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu to commemorate with her on her birthday, while addressing news men called on Nigerians never to let the labours of our Heroes past to be in vain.
He called on all and sundry to put hands on the deck in ensuring that enemies of our dear nation do not succeed in destroying our democracy.
Meanwhile, Dr Ramatu charged all political, religious and traditional leaders to gag themselves against utterances and actions that could lead to anarchy for democracy can only survive in a peaceful environment.
Recall that Nigeria’s democracy day was formerly in May 29th which marked the day of successful hand over by the military to the first civilian elected president; President Muhammad Buhari in his resolve to recognition and sustenance of democracy vetoed the first election of June 12th, 1993 as the new official day to celebrate democracy in Nigeria.
