The last has not been heard of the party primaries that took place across the country that saw the emergence of Presidential, Gubernatorial, Senatorial, other candidates.
Due to the denials of many serving Senator, House of Representatives and others by their parties, many are jumping the ship hence the decamping of two All Progressives Party, APC and Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP senators decamping.
The two prominent senators of APC that decamped are Senate Majority Leader, Yahaya Abdullahi, and Adamu Aliero. The duo announced their defection to PDP on Monday at the plenary.
Also announcing his defection is the Senate Minority Leader, Enyinnaya Abaribe to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
However, his former colleagues in PDP rejected his defection after a point of order raised by Senator Gabriel Suswam, claiming that he did not come with his defection/resignation letter which he promised to present formally on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the formal defection of Senators Yahaya Abdullahi and Adamu Aliero from Kebbi State were read by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan on the floor during plenary on Tuesday.
The duo of Senators Yahaya Abdullahi and Adamu Aliero who were formerly APC members are from Kebbi State representing Kebbi North and Kebbi Central Senatorial Districts, respectively.
Their defections bring the number of PDP to 39 while the ruling party, APC drops from 71 to 69.
