Nasarawa united goal machine and highest goal scorer in the NPFL league season, Silas Nwankwo said he is targeting 20 goals for this 2020/2021 NPFL league season.
Nwankwo told brila.net that he is being inspired by his teammate in the league, Barnabas Imenger who always threatens him that, if he does not score in a match, he will make sure he buys him food always. And because he wouldn’t want to buy food for him, he tries in every match day to score a goal.
According to him, “Before I started scoring many goals, I said to myself that as a striker, when I get the goals, my confidence will be built up, and I am glad that the goals are still coming. It is my target to hit 20 goals before the season comes to an end.
“What inspires my goal scoring form is my idol and fellow teammate, Barnabas Imenger Jnr. who would always chide me that if I don’t score, I would buy food for him. So, in order not to fall a victim of buying him the food, I try as much as possible to score in any game I find myself,” he concluded.
Silas Nwankwo is currently the highest goalscorer with 16 goals and still counting with Charles Atshimene of Akwa United and Rabiu Aliu of Kano Pillars both tied on second highest goal scorers chat with 13 goals apiece.
